FIG to the Trade - curated furniture and art - Austin, Texas

FIG to the Trade is excited to bring to the Austin market new lines as well as familiar ones missing from local showrooms. In addition, we source unique antique and vintage pieces in keeping with the FIG design philosophy: Found, Inherited, Gathered.

“The things people treasure the most – unique jewelry, a great travel bag or a gorgeous pair of lamps – always have a story behind them. Whether it’s a color, the texture of a particular trim, or the pattern of a fabric that evokes a client’s memories of childhood or travel, some kind of history is really the way people connect with what’s around them; it’s what makes something special, personal.”

– Kit Garven & Lisa Davidson

We’d love to talk about your projects! Give us a call and visit our showroom to browse all of our lines and unusual elements.

Kit Garven

FIG to the Trade Founder

Kit Garven’s passion for design began early in life. She credits her maternal grandfather, Charles Kovec, a noted fashion illustrator in the 1940s and ‘50s, with sparking a curiosity for all things art and travel. His tales and treasures from trips to far-flung locations and work for the fabled El Palacio de Hierro department store in Mexico City inspired her, while numerous visits to her grandparents’ modern apartment in Mexico City and their weekend home in in Cuernavaca instilled an appreciation for homes that tell the story of the people who live in them.

After studying art history and interior design at Savannah College of Art and Design, Kit returned to Texas to work in residential design, with forays into the wholesale side of the business as well as founding her own interior design firm. Her ability to enhance the architectural integrity of a home while infusing the interiors with elements that reflect the style and personality of its owners and not simply the latest trends are a hallmark of her work. Years of close collaboration with clients to envision uniquely. personal spaces led to the FIG design philosophy – Found, Inherited, Gathered – that’s at the heart of everything she does.

Kit opened FIG to the Trade in 2023 to bring Austin’s design community greater access to under-represented lines, as well as one-of-a-kind pieces imbued with a sense of history and place.
